Prescription medications in the US are controlled medications. This means that a doctor must approve your use of the medication before you are allowed to have access to it.
If you already have prescription medications that will need to filled during your stay in the US, please schedule an appointment with a doctor as soon as possible after your arrival into the US. This is to ensure that you do not run out of necessary medication(s) and can receive the proper medication.
Please be aware that your doctor in the US may wish to or need to verify any health conditions that you may have before they are able to fill or refill your prescription. As part of this process, they may perform tests or other procedures.
If you take non-prescription medications, please schedule an appointment with a doctor as soon as possible after your arrival into the US. Due to US laws, your medication may be controlled and therefore require a prescription in the US. We want to ensure that you have access to the medications that you need.
If at any time while in the US, you fall ill or are injured, your doctor may prescribe medications. These are sent to a pharmacy of your choice for you to pick up. Please see the List of Local Pharmacies below.
